Android tablet + Chameleon

Hi, I can see that it's possible to control a DAW with Chameleon running on an Android tablet, but is anyone currently doing so, with good results, preferably via wifi (and Windows)?

I'm selling my touch screen laptop and might look at buying a tablet just for the purpose of running Chameleon, but don't really want to invest in one if it doesn't work great.

Here's a demo I made using my touch screen, with Chameleon controlling Bitwig.

At this days all computers, desktop or laptops support dual monitor.
I think is better connect to your current pc a external monitor, this is very cheap faster, and you can build some case for transport etc.

In this way you no need WIFI and run Chameleon on the same computer your DAW, extending the desktop, one run Chameleon other your DAW.
Asus Vt229h is perfect size, good price.
Your title said, Android, chameleon not run on Android OS............go with the solution I suggest.
For sure there is a lot of models of touch monitors, I suggest that duet is cheap and i super tested that.

About WIFI, there is some guides here in the forum.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply.

I am specifically looking to use Chameleon in a live setup while performing live, using Chameleon on a tablet instead of hardware controllers, not a studio environment.

But if Chameleon doesn't run on Android, I guess my plan will not work....

Your welcome.
Again, consider Vt229h monitor connected to your pc, running as extended desktop.
Vt229h support VESA mount, so can be mounted in some kind of case.
You enjoy more that setup than any other thing, perfect size screen for use and operate touch, low price, super secure setup, non heavy, etc.
Just a suggestion, what for sure trust me, is more pro than go with a droid tablet over WIFI.
If you use mac, maybe of course this not is a option.

Thanks, the Asus monitor is an interesting idea. I can find it here for about $400 so not too expensive. Biggest problem is the size, making it big for transporting to gigs and easy to break, plus heavy at almost 4kg, and wouldn't fit in any normal bag. I would think you'd need to lay it down, rather than on the stand, to get a usable angle for using live over long periods? Unless you can bend it way back on the stand?

I still like the idea of a tablet - small and light and easy to travel with, will fit it any bag, and you can screen extend/mirror to Windows as well.

I'll keep thinking it over. Pros and cons each way.

Yes stand no needed.
You can go to more ready to use solution like this:

For sure, there is lot of portable touch monitors better than the zen model.
What I not like of all portable, are the mini connectors, easy to broken......
I prefer the Vt229h, with some little job is easy to build a custom bag, and custom vesa stand.

Hi, from what I can tell from reading reviews of the Asus Vt229h, the touch screen only works when you have the desktop in Extended mode, not as a second monitor? And that you need to use a USB cable for the touch screen to work, not just HDMI?

You can extend desktop or mirror the desktop, in both cases touchscreen works. About wires, 3 wires needed: HDMI or VGA for video, USB, and power.
