Hola Dan, welcome, and no worries: this one is easy once you know the trick. Those two buttons in your picture (the double arrows) are called "Auto X-Fade Left" and "Auto X-Fade Right" in Traktor, and they can be pressed from Zonea like any other button. Step by step:
- In Zonea, place two Buttons (for example the Arrow ones from the Buttons panel). Select the first one, open Events, MIDI tab, and set it up like this: tick Push (so it works like a real button you press and release), tick Notes, Channel 1, Number 60, Value 127, Aft Val 0. Do the same on the second button but with Number 61. Save your template.
- In Traktor, open Preferences, Controller Manager. If you do not have a device for Zonea yet, click Add..., choose Generic MIDI, and set In-Port to Zonea-1 (the Zonea port). Leave Out-Port on Zonea-1 too.
- Click Add In..., then Mixer, then X-Fader, then Auto X-Fade Left. Now click Learn, go to Zonea and tap your first button (press Escape or PERFORM in Zonea so the button is live, or hold Shift + X while the editor is open). Traktor fills in the note by itself. Click Learn again to switch it off. Below, set Type of Controller to Button and Interaction Mode to Trigger.
- Repeat step 3 with Auto X-Fade Right and your second button.
- How long the fade takes is not in the mapping: it is in Preferences, Mixer, Crossfader, Auto Crossfade Time. Slide it to taste.
That is all. Tap the left button and Traktor slides the crossfader to the left on its own; tap the right one and it slides to the right.
One extra if you also have a crossfader slider in Zonea: map that slider to Mixer, X-Fader, X-Fader Position both as Add In... and Add Out... (same Learn trick). Then, when you press the auto fade button, the slider in Zonea moves by itself following Traktor, so you always see where the crossfader is.
If something does not move, check two things: that the button in Zonea has Notes ticked (not CC), and that Traktor's In-Port for the device is Zonea-1. Un saludo!
