Using MS Surface with Chameleon to control main PC running ableton

Hi all - first post and first time user.

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before - I did have a little search but didn't quite find what I was looking for.

I was wondering if I could have Chameleon installed and set up on my Microsoft Surface with my own custom controller template and then use that to control elements of Ableton / VSTs etc. on my main PC ? Perhaps via ableton link ? or would it be midi via some other network link perhaps ?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you may have.
