Would love to have hotkeys available to toggle between midi mode and direct mode! Also, to set the horizontal/vertical fader direction.

Well not is better, is hotkeys after all, but with approach is better than move hands from mouse and dial to the keyboard.

<r>Version 1.4 launched, new COM mode make all more easy (combined mode), I think you no need more hotkeys. 
User guide updated, I suggest take a look on the first chapters. 
In case you want go beyond, extender project is coming:

Version 1.6 come with Hotkeys, anyway the availability of hotkeys have another extra purpose, use the keyboard broken the workflow with the Surface Dial.
Remember now the COM mode already available from version 1.5 you can control anything without switch!
Anyway I think you love the version 1.6, I complete that version very soon, come with some nice extra features!
